Breaking Radio Silence

Good Sunday to all. In the hubbub surrounding my doctors’ appointments and return to blog posting last week, I completely neglected to dutifully report that my trapezius has broken radio silence and has reported for duty.

A couple of weeks ago, as I stood admiring my post-operative, closed-wound physique, I noticed that the right side of my neck no longer looked scrawny and atrophied.  Wouldn’t you know it, there, plain as day, was my long-lost muscle! And then I realized: I was able to raise my right arm.  Straight up. Just like my left arm.

Just in time, too, as I had a follow up with my physical therapist and, I hate to admit, I was being somewhat neglectful of my exercises. But, I was quite pleased to show her my stuff – and it was rather amusing to watch her try to hide her surprise – as I was able to lift, pull and stretch every which way.

Now, using my left side as a benchmark I still have a ways to go but, nonetheless, it’s an exciting moment and a small victory. I’ll take them where I can.
